[edit] Better Update the Wiki

Or so says the comic title. But really, what are we to say here? I'll just go add an episode to the list. Frankly, we're kinda stuck waiting an indeterminate amount of time to see what condition Lemmo will be in. S. Mackie 06:12, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] So!

What do y'all think of my opening salvo of page creation? Macksting 19:37, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Like it (^_^)
Though instead of adding "redirect page1, page2, page3" on top of articles, I'd prefer actual redirects at these pages. The MediaWiki search engine really isn't the best. It's not a problem now, since we don't have many articles, though it's good to be prepared.
Greetz, (talk|contribs) 20:37, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I fully intend to set up redirects when I can be arsed to look up the language and syntax, but yeah, it's damn ugly until I do. Macksting 03:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Creating redirects is quite easy. Just place
#REDIRECT [[Pagename]]
as only content at the page you'd like to redirect to another page. :-)

[edit] Some Conventions

I'll write them down as I think of them. First, despite the fancy-shmancy logo and the wiki title, Blank It should be two separate words when written out.-Lemmo 14:49, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

And here you were getting on my case for asking about naming schema. :) Macksting 19:42, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Images

Pretty much anything from the comic, or things I draw are welcome to be cut, spliced and used in the wiki if you guys want to make it a more visual experience.-Lemmo 14:23, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Kewl :-)
An administrator would need to allow upload of stuffz in that case.
(talk|contribs) 14:39, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Another convention added. Lemmo, would you care to create a brief Wiki Guide saying what is and is not an acceptable convention? Just askin'. You've already got two elements right here. 75.170.9.162 16:55, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
*bumping this one up again*
Additionally: MediaWiki 1.14 (that's the one we got running here) introduces a new feature → A whitelist for external images. By default, the wiki only allows to display images which are uploaded to it (in case the above mentioned settings are set). With the whitelist, we could use external images as well. I'd suggest to whitelist images from the blankitcomics.com domain. This seems somehow reasonable :-)
-- (talk|contribs) 11:05, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
This sounds reasonable, but I'm not sure if I'm welcoming the idea of linking to all the comics from inside the wiki, if that's one of the intentions. We might just make a convention saying "don't do that" though.-Lemmo 19:01, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Ah I see. Yeah that was the intention. But I can see that it might be better to just have it all in one place to ensure that everyone is getting to the space with the shoutbox, RSS links, Googe Analytics and stuff... Think we don't need the whitelisting then. Since I don't know which images would be desireable which we couldn't also upload. Oh that's the keyword: Thx for enabling upload!! :-)

[edit] Navigation Header

Hey there! =)
I'd like to run a bot process to automatically add Template:Header to to all pages in the main namespace. I think it would simplify the navigation within the wiki. Objections? Improvements?
-- (talk|contribs) 11:17, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hm. Deploying it since no one yelled ^^

Looks good to me. S. Mackie 06:33, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New Episode Pages

Zai, is there a possible way to automate/replicate the episode pages so it's easier to populate them with data? If we could get a robot to go through and build all the episode pages, it'd be a snap to go in and edit their details.
Also, people should know that they can look at the Search Engine to find character data and text to copy/paste if they need it. -Lemmo 18:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Just pondered about that... I wasn't sure at first, but after some thinking: Yeah, is possible :-) I'd need two runs for that though it seems to be easy. Can you specify what's supposed to be on these pages from the start? I'd add the Header with appropriate category, as well as the episode template with appropriate title and link. Anything else? Empty chapter with "place character description here" or something? Oh and: Can you add Wiki Scribe to the bots usergroup? Gives me a higher API limit and throws less warning messages in my terminal... ^^
Greetz, (talk|contribs) 22:36, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Hah hah! I figured out how to edit user rights! Gooooo me! --Blankit 16:23, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Woot! ^_^ ty :-) -- (talk|contribs) 16:49, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
I made a "template" page (not really a template in wiki lingo, though you know what I mean) at 2008-06-12. Should all pages look like this (with correct links and stuff for each) or should I modify something before I start the bot?
-- (talk|contribs) 17:28, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, sure, looks fine. It'll make things prettier, too. S. Mackie 19:06, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
There we go. Every article has a page. Also made redirects from the articlenames in original and lower case. As well as Category:Episodes by Name (chronologically) and Category:Episodes by Name (alphabetically)
